What to see and do in Malaguilla

Malaguilla
Village
Municipality of the comarca of La Campiña, in the province of Guadalajara, flanked by two patches of oak wood beside the Dueñas stream, whose parish church preserves a Plateresque doorway, a notable choir balustrade and a Romanesque font, and whose main square boasts a seigneurial mansion with a noble coat of arms beside the traditional fountains and washhouses; it celebrates Candlemas in February, in honour of Nuestra Señora del Valle, and in September the festivals of the Cristo del Amor y de la Caridad.
Parish church of Malaguilla
Monument
The parish church of Malaguilla (La Campiña, Guadalajara), dedicated to Nuestra Señora del Valle, preserves a Plateresque doorway, a valuable choir balustrade and a Romanesque baptismal font. The church already appears recorded in Pascual Madoz's 1848 geographical-statistical-historical dictionary as iglesia parroquial de Ntra. Sra. del Valle.
The manor house of the Plaza Mayor of Malaguilla
Monument
The manor house that displays a coat of arms on its façade, and which belonged to the manorial estate of the area, stands in the so-called plazuela de Palacio, on calle Mayor in Malaguilla (Guadalajara). Alongside it other traditional elements of the village are preserved, such as a new fountain and an old one and the washhouses, already recorded in Pascual Madoz's geographical dictionary of 1848.
The oak groves of the Dueñas stream
Nature
Two patches of oak woodland flank the built-up area of Malaguilla to the north and southeast, beside the stream of Dueñas, just as Pascual Madoz's geographical dictionary already described in the mid-19th century, placing these oak woods in those same directions. The stream, seasonal in nature, carries water only in winter, and its waters could never be put to use owing to the shape of its bed.
Festivities of el Cristo del Amor y de la Caridad
Activity
Malaguilla celebrates the festivities of the Cristo del Amor y de la Caridad on the first weekend of September, which are added to the February patronal festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora de las Candelas, also called Virgen del Valle, held on the first weekend of that month.
