What to see and do in Robledillo de Mohernando

Robledillo de Mohernando
Village
Robledillo de Mohernando is a municipality of the La Campiña comarca, in the province of Guadalajara, with 200 inhabitants (INE 2025), at 896 m altitude. It keeps up a winter botarga, at the end of January, in which the villagers, in traditional costume, perform the town's typical dances, and a hermitage of the Virgen de Valdelagua three kilometres from the village, the destination of the celebrations of San Marcos in April and San Isidro in May. The main festival is celebrated in the last week of July, with bullfighting events. Among its places of interest stands out the old Fuente Vieja, with two large troughs and a Latin inscription now illegible. Here were born the ethnographer Sinforiano García Sanz and the Franciscan José Bernardo Sánchez, a missionary in California.
The Botarga of Robledillo de Mohernando
Activity
La Botarga de Robledillo de Mohernando is a winter masquerade held in late January, a festivity typical of various places in Castile-La Mancha with their own local variants. The young men of the village dress in traditional costumes and go through the streets of the municipality performing typical dances, in a tradition that has been kept up for decades.
The Old Fountain of Robledillo
Monument
Historic fountain of Robledillo de Mohernando, with two large troughs and a Latin inscription whose message is unknown today because parts of it are illegible. Its outer structure was renovated, which gave it a more modern look though without the charm it once had, and it remains one of the village's tourist attractions.
Hermitage of la Virgen de Valdelagua
Monument
Hermitage situated three kilometres from Robledillo de Mohernando (La Campiña, Guadalajara), dedicated to the Virgen de Valdelagua. In her honour two festivities are held: in April, for San Marcos, the image is brought to the village, and in May, for San Isidro, it returns in procession to its hermitage, where it remains for the rest of the year.
Sinforiano García Sanz, ethnographer
Curiosity
Born in the town, Sinforiano García Sanz (1911-1995) was an ethnographer and writer. The Franciscan José Bernardo Sánchez (1778-1830), a missionary in California, also came from the town.
