What to see and do in Landete

Landete
Village
Landete is one of the most important municipalities of the Cuenca Serranía Baja and its nerve centre, with 1,175 inhabitants. It sits on a plain surrounded by mountains, 99 kilometres east of the provincial capital, Cuenca, and very close to the provinces of Teruel and Valencia. The village combines traditional rural stone architecture, with large yards and big wooden doors, with modern chalet-style houses, notably the semi-suspended houses of the Barrio del Castillo, one of the oldest in the village; Manzaneruela, with just over a hundred inhabitants, is its only pedanía (dependent hamlet). Its recipes are noted for gazpachos de pastor, a game stew cooked with mushrooms and served over crumbled unleavened flatbread that serves at once as bread and as plate.
