Arcas
Village
Arcas is a municipality in the Serranía Media-Campichuelo y Serranía Baja district, in the province of Cuenca, about ten kilometers from the provincial capital, which also includes the settlement of Villar del Saz de Arcas and was called Arcas del Villar until 2013. The village stands at 959 m above sea level, next to the river San Martín, and its municipal area contains the Arcas lagoon complex, declared a nature reserve. Its main monument is the Romanesque church of Nuestra Señora de la Natividad, from the 13th century, with a single nave, semicircular apse and freestanding bell gable, a regular venue for the concerts of Cuenca's Semana de Música Religiosa. The festivities are held on 15 May, in honor of San Isidro, and on 14 September, dedicated to the patron saint, the Santo Rostro, with a bull run through the streets.
