What to see and do in Ledaña

Ledaña
Village
Ledaña is a municipality in the comarca of La Manchuela Conquense, in the province of Cuenca, whose name derives from the Celtic Litania (“wide, extensive”). After the conquest of Alarcón and Iniesta by Alfonso VIII in 1184-1186, it remained a natural frontier between the Christian and Muslim kingdoms until the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa in 1212 and until the incorporation of Requena by Ferdinand III in 1240, the year it became part of the Marquisate of Villena as a hamlet dependent on Iniesta. It became an independent municipality on Christmas Day 1705, after centuries under lordship. It preserves a dozen dry-stone huts, or cucos, with false-dome roofs, and on the outskirts, next to the old mill, the hermitage of San Cristóbal and a bridge of Roman origin.
