Villar de Cañas
Village
Villar de Cañas is a municipality in the comarca of La Mancha Conquense, in the province of Cuenca, with 389 inhabitants, with a flat landscape surrounded by hills, situated in the Guadiana river basin and crossed from north to south-southwest by the Záncara river. As in most small municipalities of Cuenca, its population, which came to exceed 1,700 inhabitants in the mid-20th century, has declined continuously since then to the 447 recorded in 2015. Its most notable architectural feature is the parish church of la Asunción de Nuestra Señora, of medieval origin and later remodelled, around whose feast the festivities of 15 August are celebrated.
