Lagueruela
Village
Lagueruela is a small municipality in the province of Teruel, in the Jiloca comarca, situated at 1,066 metres above sea level on the right bank of the Huerva river, about 99 km from the provincial capital. It has 73 inhabitants. In 1248, by privilege of James I, it broke away from Daroca and became part of the Sesma de Barrachina, within the Community of Villages of Daroca, dissolved in 1838. The village preserves the baroque church of San Pedro Apóstol, from the 18th century, and several hermitages: that of San Cristóbal, from the 15th-16th centuries, with a notable 15th-century figure of Christ, and that of the Holy Sepulchre, baroque from the 17th century, which houses a Gothic panel Pietà from the 15th century. The main festivals are celebrated in honour of San Pedro, on 29 June.
