What to see and do in Estada

Estada
Village
Estada is a municipality of 215 inhabitants on the banks of the río Cinca, near its confluence with the Ésera, on the boundary between the flat, fertile part of the province of Huesca and the Pre-Pyrenees. It preserves the remains of Villa Stata, an early Christian Roman villa from which the present-day town probably originates, whose mosaic is kept in the Museo Provincial de Zaragoza. It was taken in 1087 by the future Pedro I de Aragón, who expelled its Moorish chief, Cadima, in one of the first steps of the Aragonese advance that would culminate with the fall of Monzón two years later and that of Barbastro in 1101; it remained crown land until in 1255 Jaime I granted it, together with its castle, to Martín Pérez, Justicia de Aragón. Its parish church, dedicated to San Pedro, was built with the stones of the old castle.
