What to see and do in Torralba de Aragón

Torralba de Aragón
Village
Torralba de Aragón is a municipality in the province of Huesca, in Aragon, whose name comes from the Latin turris alba, after an old defensive tower of pale stone; "de Aragón" was added later to distinguish it from other places of the same name and to stress its belonging to the former kingdom. It had 235 inhabitants in the mid-19th century according to Pascual Madoz, rose to over 500 by the mid-20th century, and today has barely 105, in line with the rural depopulation of Los Monegros. With no educational or basic services of its own, its residents must go to Tardienta or Huesca, though in summer and during festivals the population grows with former residents returning. It preserves the church of San Pedro and celebrates, on the first Saturday of May, the feast of the Holy Cross, and in October that of Our Lady of the Rosary, with its Carrera de Roscas.
