What to see and do in Valle de Lierp

Valle de Lierp
Village
Valle de Lierp is a small mountain municipality in the Ribagorza of Huesca, spread over a natural valley at the foot of the Turbón massif and between it and the Chordal mountain range, where scattered settlement predominates: none of its hamlets — Egea, which acts as the capital, Padarníu, Pueyo, Reperós, Sala, Serrate and Piniello — has more than a few houses, and some are no more than a single farmhouse (mas). The place name, documented since 1023 in the Colección Diplomática de Obrarra, has a disputed origin, with theories deriving it from Latin or from ancient Basque. The valley opens towards the Isábena river, and in its speech, of Ribagorzan root, the transition between Catalan and Aragonese occurs gradually between the different settlements of the same municipality, a rather uncommon case.
