What to see and do in Vegadeo

Vegadeo
Village
Vegadeo, A Veiga in eonaviego, is a concejo of the Eo-Navia comarca, in the Principality of Asturias, with almost 3,930 inhabitants grouped in the vega of the río Eo, which separates the concejo from the Galician municipalities of Trabada and Ribadeo. From there comes its present name, which in 1916 replaced the historic name of Vega de Ribadeo. The territory has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as shown by a dolmen and several burial mounds found at A Bobia, and it preserves at least ten castros of the castro culture, among them that of Piantón, where in 1932 the funerary stele of Nicer, prince of the Albiones, was found, now in the provincial archaeological museum. Vegadeo preserves manor houses such as the Casa Villamil and a tannery from 1823, and in 2016 declared eonaviego official by municipal ordinance.
