What to see and do in Cadalso

Cadalso
Village
Municipality of 394 inhabitants (2025) at 438 m altitude. Alfonso XI had a hunting residence here, described in his Libro de la Montería. It became independent from Santibáñez el Alto and was declared an exempt villa in 1341, under the jurisdiction of the Order of Alcántara. It preserves the Casa del Rey (King's House) and the town's former royal jail; its church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción has been a candidate for Bien de Interés Cultural status since 2018.
La Casa del Rey de Cadalso
Historical milestone
On the corner of the square with Calle del Chorro stands the Casa del Rey, so named because Alfonso XI stayed there during his hunting trips in the area. Cadalso obtained town status around the 11th century by becoming independent from Santibáñez el Alto through a payment of 1,500 ducats.
Fiestas de San Ubaldo
Activity
Festival in honour of San Ubaldo, patron saint of Cadalso.
