What to see and do in Venturada

Venturada
Village
Venturada is a municipality of about 2,600 inhabitants in the comarca of the Sierra Norte, Community of Madrid, divided into two urban centres on either side of the A-1 motorway: the Los Cotos de Monterrey development and the traditional town, with the developments of Tolle-Lege, Miravalle and Los Rosales. Set on a natural vantage point, it looks out over the basin of the río Guadalix and the vega of Torrelaguna. Its customs are linked to the pre-Roman Celtiberian area, and Romanised presence is attested from the mid-2nd century. Its greatest monument is a cylindrical Andalusi watchtower from around the year 950, nine metres high, and the church of Santiago Apóstol preserves Romanesque traces from the 12th and 13th centuries.
Watchtower of Venturada
Monument
An Andalusi circular watchtower raised between the 9th and 10th centuries within the Middle March, which communicated by smoke signals with the watchtowers of El Berrueco, Torrelaguna and El Vellón to control the way up into the mountains.
