Navalafuente
Village
Navalafuente is a village of about 1,693 inhabitants at 910 metres above sea level, on limestone ground at the foot of the sierra de La Cabrera, in the Sierra Norte of Madrid, which in the mid-19th century barely had more than a hundred residents. Today the built-up area also extends into developments such as El Chaparral, El Erial or Peña Hueca. The Madrid-Burgos railway line crosses the municipality along the slope of Mount El Pendón, although it never had its own station, the nearest halt being at Miraflores de la Sierra. Its parish church of San Bartolomé, of Romanesque design, depended for centuries on the parish of neighbouring Cabanillas de la Sierra.
