What to see and do in Alameda del Valle

Alameda del Valle
Village
Alameda del Valle is a village in the Sierra Norte district of Madrid, located in the upper valley of the Lozoya, near the Malagosto pass, on the left bank of the river that gives the valley its name. It belonged until 1834 to the province of Segovia, within the Sexmo de Lozoya of the Comunidad de Ciudad y Tierra de Segovia. It lived off transhumant livestock farming, exporting wool and charging tolls on the flocks that crossed its lands, and from the 18th century also off flax. With around 267 inhabitants, it preserves, at the south-western edge of the town centre, the church of Santa Marina, begun in the 16th century in a style between Gothic and Renaissance and remodelled in the 18th; three kilometres away stands the hermitage of Santa Ana.
