What to see and do in Valdeolmos-Alalpardo

Valdeolmos-Alalpardo
Village
Valdeolmos-Alalpardo is a municipality in the northeast of the Community of Madrid formed by the settlements of Valdeolmos, Alalpardo and Miraval, the latter also known as La Paloma. Its name combines the Spanish Valle de Olmos, from the abundance of this tree between the Casar and Calderón streams, with the Arabic place name Alalpardo, meaning small village on dark farming land. Set on a peneplain at 685 metres, with witness hills reaching 815 metres, it preserves a varied fauna of roe deer, foxes, wild boar, partridges and great bustards. It has about 4,600 inhabitants. Its main church is that of the Immaculate Conception, from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Monument
Its 14th-century Gothic-Mudéjar tower, with brick courses, survived the fire of 26 July 1879; the rest was rebuilt in the late 19th century to a design by Vargas Repullés, on a site previously occupied by a Roman construction.
Church of la Inmaculada Concepción de Alalpardo
Monument
It began as a hermitage with a Mudejar tower between the 14th and 15th centuries, was enlarged with a Gothic chapel in the 16th and reached the rank of rural church in the 17th; Alalpardo obtained town status in 1651 and so broke free of the jurisdiction of Talamanca.
