What to see and do in Aliud

Aliud
Village
Aliud is a place of twenty inhabitants in the valley of the río Rituerto, belonging to the former sexmo of Lubia, in the province of Soria; on its territory lies the ruined town of Albocabe, with which it came to form a single municipality, and its hermitage of the so-called Cerro Santo is dedicated to San Cristóbal. Its name, of Arabic origin, has been interpreted in two ways: as al-yahud, “the Jews”, which would point to an old Jewish colony settled in this livestock-farming area, of which no memory remains today among the residents; or as al-hud, in reference to the Quranic prophet Hud, who also gives his name to the Banu Hud dynasty, kings of the taifa of Zaragoza between 1039 and 1110.
