What to see and do in Valderrueda

Valderrueda
Village
Valderrueda is a municipality in the northeast of the province of León, in the judicial district of Cistierna, bringing together twenty-one villages with its administrative seat in Puente Almuhey and about 815 inhabitants, between the 946 meters of Villamorisca and the 1,831 of Peña Corada. Since 1976 it has included the villages of the former municipalities of Valderrueda and Renedo de Valdetuéjar and two localities of the former municipality of La Vega de Almanza. It preserves an 18th-century church with large arcades and a bell tower with a stork's nest, and a stone town hall that holds a plaque from 1986, when Valderrueda was voted the most popular village in the province by a radio station. The chapel in the Vega quarter, with a single nave and barrel vaults, was built on an old Capuchin convent.
