What to see and do in Valle de Valdelucio

Valle de Valdelucio
Village
Valle de Valdelucio is a municipality of the Páramos, in Burgos, with about 340 inhabitants made up of ten minor local entities around the Lucio river, a land of seed potatoes; its head town is Quintanas, and since 2017 it has belonged to the Las Loras Geopark, the first Unesco geopark in Castile and León. Between high plains to the north and the Peña Lora heights to the south, it preserves relict beech woods and a varied colony of birds of prey, and its territory is divided between the Mediterranean watershed, via the Rudrón and the Ebro, and the Atlantic one, via the Duero. After the abolition of the seigneuries, its former villages, under the jurisdiction of the Duke of Frías, were reorganised into the present-day municipality. At Pedrosa de Arcellares stands the Gothic hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Vega, patroness of the valley.
