What to see and do in Pedrosa del Príncipe

Pedrosa del Príncipe
Village
Pedrosa del Príncipe is a municipality in the Odra-Pisuerga district, in the province of Burgos, situated at the point where the Odra river, after running 65 kilometres through the province, flows into the Pisuerga. Along its banks there were once flour mills, of which the Hinestrosa mill still retains its stone structure, and the floodplain is used to irrigate beet, alfalfa, maize and fruit trees. The village was the lordship of Juan Fernández de Hinestrosa, royal chamberlain and favourite of Peter I, who died in 1359 at the Battle of Araviana; its name may come from Fernando, a son the king had with María de Hinestrosa, the favourite's daughter, who was named Lord of Niebla and died as a child. It preserves the tradition of singing Reyes (Epiphany) carols on the night of 5 January. It has 155 inhabitants.

Nature
In this municipal district the Odra gives its waters to the Pisuerga after sixty-five kilometres from its source north of Peña Amaya. The joining of the two rivers gives its name to the whole comarca.
