What to see and do in Villambistia

Villambistia
Village
Villambistia is a hamlet in the Montes de Oca district, in the province of Burgos, crossed by the Camino Francés alongside the N-120 road, 40 kilometres east of the capital. It belonged to the Hermandad de Villafranca Montes de Oca, within the district of Juarros, under royal jurisdiction with a local pedáneo mayor; after the fall of the Ancien Régime it became a municipality of the Belorado district, with 189 inhabitants, a figure now reduced to 44. It preserves the parish church of San Esteban and the hermitage of San Roque, and has had its own coat of arms and flag since 2007.

Curiosity
In the village square, a basin with several spouts carries the custom of the pilgrim putting his whole head under the water to take away his tiredness; tradition attributes curative properties to the spring.
