Arraya de Oca
Village
Arraya de Oca is a town of 49 inhabitants south of the Montes de Oca and east of La Bureba, province of Burgos, in the judicial district of Briviesca. It was a lordship of the duke of Frías, who appointed its chief magistrate, and on the fall of the Ancien Régime it became a municipality with about 135 inhabitants, reduced by the mid-19th century to the 65 houses described by Pascual Madoz. Its church, dedicated to the Asunción de Nuestra Señora, is dependent on the parish of the Monasterio de Rodilla, within the archpriestship of Oca-Tirón. In neighbouring villages its inhabitants are nicknamed wild boars, and the women, wild sows.
