Madrigalejo del Monte
Village
Madrigalejo del Monte is a municipality in the Arlanza comarca, province of Burgos, with 160 inhabitants, which also includes the settlement of Montuenga. It stands at 890 metres, beside the Norte motorway, which crosses the municipal territory between kilometres 213 and 215, 28 kilometres from the city of Burgos. The landscape is flat, with small undulations and hills, typical of the comarca, and its climate combines Castilian semi-aridity with notable rainfall of Atlantic origin, around 500 mm a year. The territory is traditionally divided between cereal cropland and scrubland. Its parish church is dedicated to Saint Thomas. In the mid-19th century the municipality had barely 116 inhabitants.
