What to see and do in Paredes de Escalona

Paredes de Escalona
Village
Paredes de Escalona is a municipality in the Torrijos comarca, in the province of Toledo, with 133 inhabitants (INE 2025), which was part of the Comunidad de villa y tierra de Escalona and was called simply Paredes until the 1916 naming reform. Its church of San Vicente Mártir, of 12th-century Romanesque origin and much altered over time, is declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain’s highest level of heritage protection). It also preserves an 18th-century rollo de justicia, with a square base and cylindrical shaft topped by a simple capital, bearing an inscription dated 1793, set on a flight of ashlar steps. It celebrates its patronal festivities on 22 January in honour of San Vicente, the pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Nava on 8 September and, in summer, the fiestas de la Vaquilla, around 15 August.
