Las Inviernas
Village
Las Inviernas is a municipality in the Tajuña valley, in the Serranía de Guadalajara, near the La Tajera reservoir, set on a slope above the San Roque stream. It belonged from the Reconquest to the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Berlanga and, between the 17th and 18th centuries, was involved in long lawsuits with neighbouring villages over the use of woodlands and communal lands. Its church of la Inmaculada dates from the 16th century, but preserves 12th-century Romanesque remains in the south portal, some reused corbels and a Romanesque baptismal font. The village's economy rests on cereal farming, market gardening and rural tourism, favoured by the natural setting of the Tajuña valley and the La Tajera reservoir. It celebrates San Acacio on 21 June.
