La Yunta
Village
La Yunta is a municipality in the province of Guadalajara (Castilla-La Mancha), in the Señorío de Molina, located in the eastern end of the province at 1,104 metres above sea level. Its name appears to derive from the verb «juntar» (to join), referring, according to the philologist Corominas, to the confluence of two rivers near the village. It now has 86 inhabitants, compared with the 320 it counted in the mid-19th century, when it is described in the geographical dictionary by Pascual Madoz. It preserves the church of Santa María la Mayor, a tower keep and several hermitages, among them those of la Soledad, Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza, San Amancio and San Roque.
