Odón
Village
Odón is a small municipality in the Jiloca district, in the province of Teruel, at 1,090 metres above sea level, with 191 inhabitants (INE 2025), bordering the province of Guadalajara. In 1248, by privilege of James I, it separated from Daroca and joined the Sesma del Campo de Gallocanta, within the Comunidad de Aldeas de Daroca, dissolved in 1838; in the mid-19th century it had 677 inhabitants. It preserves the church of San Bartolomé Apóstol, from the late 16th century, the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, the Casa de los Fuertes and the remains of an old pottery workshop and an ice house. Its patronal festivities, in honour of San Bartolomé and the Virgen de las Mercedes, are celebrated between 22 and 27 August.
Church of Odón
Monument
The parish church of Odón is dedicated to San Bartolomé Apóstol. It is a rubble-masonry building with a single four-bay nave, a polygonal apse and chapels between buttresses, whose apse was renovated from 1595 onward over the body of the earlier church; its interior was decorated with Baroque stuccowork in the early 18th century.
