Ledanca
Village
Ledanca is a municipality of the comarca of La Alcarria, in the province of Guadalajara, in the valley of the river Badiel, at 924 metres above sea level; its municipal area includes Valfermoso de las Monjas, a dependent hamlet since the year 2000. After the Reconquest it belonged to the alfoz and fuero of Hita, passing through the lordships of the Mendoza family and, from the 17th century, the marquisate of Argecilla, up to the dukes of the Infantado. It was a battlefront in the Carlist Wars and, later, in the battle of Guadalajara during the Civil War. A Bronze Age site has been documented beside the hill of La Olla. It preserves the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, of Romanesque design and damaged in 1936, an 18th-century fountain and the medieval mill del Cura; its streets were the setting, in 1977, for the film Bruja, más que bruja. It has 98 inhabitants.
