What to see and do in Retascón

Retascón
Village
Retascón is a municipality in the Zaragoza comarca of Campo de Daroca, with 77 inhabitants, on a plateau of the Iberian System, in the depression formed by the barranco de la Mina, between 883 and 950 metres above sea level. In 1248, by privilege of James I, it broke away from Daroca and joined the Sesma del Campo de Gallocanta, within the Comunidad de Aldeas de Daroca. Its church of the Assumption of Our Lady, in 18th-century baroque style, was originally built in Mudéjar style and preserves altarpieces from the 15th and 16th centuries, among them a work by the Maestro de Retascón, a Gothic painter of the early 15th century. It also preserves the remains of a Gothic castle and two ruined dovecotes.
