What to see and do in Letux

Letux
Village
Letux is a municipality in the Campo de Belchite district, in the province of Zaragoza, situated at about 515-520 metres above sea level and crossed by the Aguasvivas river. In the mid-19th century it had 720 registered inhabitants; today it has 349. Pascual Madoz described it in 1847 as having 200 houses, seven streets and a square. It preserves the church of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, the hermitage of the Virgen de los Dolores and the castle-palace of the Marquises of Lazán. It celebrates its patron saint festivities on 2 May, in honour of San Atanasio, and on 31 August, in honour of San Ramón Nonato; on both dates, and on other marked days, the coplillas and the dawn rosary are sung before daybreak, led by the brotherhood of the Virgen del Rosario, one of the oldest in Aragon. It is the birthplace of the poet Rosendo Tello, winner of the Aragonese Letters prize.
