What to see and do in Camarena de la Sierra

Camarena de la Sierra
Village
Camarena de la Sierra is a mountain municipality in Gúdar-Javalambre, in the province of Teruel, located at an altitude of 1,294 metres and 28 kilometres from the capital, in a valley opened by the río Camarena and surrounded by the peaks of the sierra de Javalambre, which reaches 2,020 metres at the hill that gives its name to the sierra and the comarca. Until 1916 it was called simply Camarena, a name to which de la Sierra was added to distinguish it from its namesake in Toledo. Within its boundary, with more than a hundred springs, rise the Camarena and Eva rivers, tributaries of the Turia, and forests of Scots pine and black pine grow together with Spanish juniper, holm oaks and maples, with cold winters and frequent snow between November and April. Agriculture has given way to rural tourism. It has 137 inhabitants.
