What to see and do in Pozán de Vero

Pozán de Vero
Village
Pozán de Vero is a municipality in the comarca of Somontano de Barbastro, in the province of Huesca, situated on the left bank of the río Vero, whose banks it shares with the Cinca for the enjoyment of nature and adventure sports. Its origins are documented from the year 1001, and it preserves Iberian sites, a restored Roman bridge and an Arab weir still in use that irrigates the market gardens of the area. In the 16th and 17th centuries inquisitorial trials for witchcraft were held here, such as that of Dominica "La Coja", a healer accused and condemned to the stake. It has 228 inhabitants and holds a Guinness record for the largest chireta, a traditional Aragonese dish, ever made. It preserves the Baroque church of la Asunción, from the 18th century, and two weirs from the 16th-17th centuries.
