Castejón del Puente
Village
Castejón del Puente is a municipality of the Somontano de Barbastro, in the province of Huesca, with 359 inhabitants (INE 2025), whose town centre sits on the hill of El Castillo, on the right bank of the río Cinca. Documented between 1099 and 1279 as Castellione Cepollero, it was crown land in its early years. It preserves the remains of a Roman bridge and road of the Ilerda-Osca route, and an old mill with a medieval waterwheel, today followed by a hiking trail that includes a Civil War fortification, Las Aguaderas. Its heritage includes the parish church of la Asunción, the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Bella and the Mudéjar town hall. Its festivities are held on 25 March, the day of the crespillo, and on 8 September, in honour of the Virgen de la Bella.
