Albero Alto
Village
Albero Alto is a municipality in the Hoya de Huesca comarca, located 13 kilometres from the capital along the A-131 road, at the foot of a low but very rugged hill, at 442 metres above sea level. During the 12th century it had strategic importance for watching over the roads between Sariñena and Huesca, forming part of the chain of fortresses of the western Somontano together with Montearagón, Piracés and Tramaced; between 1118 and 1136 the tenant of the place was Lope Fortuñones de Albero, and afterwards his mother Lopa. It preserves the castle of Corvins. It celebrates its festivals on 11 May and 9 September, in honour of the Virgen de la Natividad. It has 123 inhabitants.
