What to see and do in Arroyo de la Luz

Arroyo de la Luz
Village
Municipality of the Tajo-Salor comarca, located at 352 m altitude, of Lusitanian and Celtic origin with later Roman, Visigothic and Arab domination. It was successively called Arroyo del Fresno and Arroyo del Puerco before adopting its current name in December 1937, linked to local devotion to the Virgen de la Luz.
Día de la Luz
Historical milestone
Main festival of Arroyo de la Luz in honor of the Virgen de la Luz, held on Easter Monday, documented since 1557. It includes a morning procession from the parish church of la Asunción, midday horse races along the Corredera, and, at nightfall, bonfires and processions with torches and lanterns. It was declared a Fiesta de Interés Turístico Regional in 1997.
