La Nava de Santiago
Village
Municipality of 914 inhabitants (2025) at 269 m altitude. It was called simply 'La Nava' until 1916, when it adopted its current name in reference to the Order of Santiago, which resettled the area. Its patron saint is Santa Quiteria. The church of the Asunción preserves a restored altarpiece.
Dolmen del Prado de Lácara
Monument
Located beside the EX-214 road between Aljucén and La Nava de Santiago, it is a megalithic passage tomb from the late Neolithic (late 4th or early 3rd millennium BC). The passage is about 20 m long and the chamber, of polygonal plan and about 5 m in diameter, is formed by five great granite slabs over 5 m tall (5.2 m in total). It is the largest dolmen preserved on the Iberian Peninsula. It was declared a monumento histórico-artístico (Monumento Histórico-Artístico, Spain's heritage designation in force between 1931 and 1985) in 1931 (today a Bien de Interés Cultural, Spain's highest level of heritage protection, under Ley 16/1985).
