What to see and do in Puebla de Alcocer

Puebla de Alcocer
Village
Municipality of 1,091 inhabitants (2025) at 527 m altitude. The original settlement, in the Aldeavieja area, was moved next to the castle; the council of Toledo granted its first founding charter on February 2, 1288, when it adopted its present name. It became a villa in 1441 under Gutierre de Sotomayor, Master of the Order of Alcántara. The 1954 Plan Badajoz flooded part of its farmland when the reservoirs were built, causing heavy emigration toward newly built villages such as Entrerríos.
