What to see and do in Lodosa

Lodosa
Village
A town of 4,964 inhabitants on the Ebro, the capital of the piquillo pepper with designation of origin. It was a medieval frontier stronghold and suffered especially during the Civil War, with 133 deaths, the highest proportion in Navarre outside the capital; its bridge over the Ebro, from 1750, inspired the saying 'de Reinosa a Tortosa, puente fuerte, el de Lodosa' ('from Reinosa to Tortosa, the strongest bridge is Lodosa's').

Food and drink
Lodosa lends its name to the designation of origin for the piquillo pepper, a small, sweet, triangular pepper that is roasted and peeled by hand before being canned, an emblematic crop of the Navarrese Ribera del Ebro.

Activity
During the festivities of the Virgen de las Angustias, on the third weekend of September, a bull held by a rope gripped by several young men runs with no fixed route through the streets of Lodosa while young people dodge its charges. It was declared a Fiesta de Interés Turístico de Navarra (a Navarre tourism-interest designation) on 7 April 2014.
