What to see and do in Beriáin

Beriáin
Village
A municipality about 11 km from Pamplona, made independent in 1992 from the former Cendea de Galar. The first documentary mention of Beriáin appears in 1110, in a document from the Leyre monastery, although its origin is believed to be earlier; the place-name probably derives from a Roman fundus linked to a name such as Verius or Venerianus.
Potasas de Navarra y la fiesta de Santa Bárbara
Historical milestone
The new district of Beriáin grew from the 1960s around Potasas de Navarra (PDN), a mining and chemical company that at its peak employed some 2,000 workers and built schools, housing and medical services for them. On 4 December, the feast of Santa Bárbara, patron saint of miners, the town holds processions in traditional mining costume.
