Chagarcía Medianero
Village
Chagarcía Medianero is a municipality of 68 inhabitants in the comarca of Tierra de Alba, in the province of Salamanca, made up of the settlements of Chagarcía and the hamlet of Juarros. Like its neighbours Horcajo Medianero and Carpio Medianero, it takes the surname "Medianero" from its position on the mediana, the historic frontier between the kingdoms of León and Castile, on the Leonese side and within the alfoz of Alba de Tormes. In the mid-19th century it had a recorded population of 185 inhabitants. With the creation of the present-day provinces in 1833 it was placed within Salamanca, in the Región Leonesa, forming part of the judicial district of Alba de Tormes until its disappearance and merger into that of Salamanca.
