What to see and do in Mazuela

Mazuela
Village
Mazuela is a former town of 55 inhabitants situated in the Campo de Muñó, southwest of the city of Burgos, although it belonged administratively to Burgos. It lives on cereal farming and, to a lesser extent, sunflowers, having once kept a large herd of livestock and grown vines, chickpeas and alfalfa. Its greatest attraction is its wine cellars, dug outside the town centre, beside which picnic huts have been built up over the last century, places to share food and conversation with wine made on the spot, following traditional methods and tools. Mazuela preserves very old vineyards that no longer exist in neighbouring villages, and its territory is protected by the Ribera de Arlanza designation, created in 2007.
