Village
Municipality of the comarca of Monte Ibérico-Corredor de Almansa, in the province of Albacete, the most recent in the province: it split off from Albacete in 1999 and constituted its first municipal corporation in January 2000. Its name comes from a well set beside the Cañada Murciana, a medieval drove road, and the place is already documented in 1515; it preserves the parish of San Juan Bautista, with a rustic polychrome image of the patron saint, the Bronze Age settlement of la Peñuela, and a Roman milestone of the time of Trajan found in 1974.
