Veguillas de la Sierra
Village
Veguillas de la Sierra is a small municipality of Comunidad de Teruel, at an altitude of about 1,270 metres, with a municipal area of barely thirteen square kilometres divided between two settlements of about fifty houses. It preserves the 18th-century parish church of la Santísima Trinidad, with baroque plasterwork and neoclassical paintings, and the hermitage of San Marcos, also called the Iglesia Vieja, possibly the original parish church, already described in 1618 by Sebastián de Utienes; it has an attached cemetery with the date 1805 on its façade. The Fuente Nueva, with its washhouse, dates from 1931. The municipality added the epithet “de la Sierra” in 1916 and celebrates its festivals on 22, 23 and 24 August, dedicated to San Roque, Saint Waldesca and the Santísima Trinidad. It has 27 inhabitants.
