Palace of Miranda-Valdecarzana Monument · Grado, Oviedo, Asturias The Palacio de Miranda-Valdecarzana stands in the centre of Grado, a palace-house of medieval origin remodelled in the 18th century that forms, together with the Baroque chapel of los Dolores, the town's monumental ensemble. Its ashlar facade bearing the arms of the Miranda family presides over the historic centre. It is a three-storey building with the entrance at the centre of the facade, leading to a monumental staircase and a courtyard with octagonal columns around which the rooms are arranged. The Miranda family enlarged it in Baroque style at the end of the 17th century, by then holding the title of Marquises of Valdecarzana, and between 1713 and 1716 the eastern facade was built beside the chapel of los Dolores. Today it houses the Public Library of Grado. Photo: Amasuela - Luis Lafuente Agudín (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Grado
