Museum of la Escuela Rural de Viñón Monument · Cabranes, Oviedo, Asturias It occupies the 1907 school designed by Javier Aguirre Iturralde in Viñón, a single-room school built for 120 pupils, and recreates with original desks, maps and exercise books how teaching was carried out in the Asturian hamlet before depopulation. The building, the work of the provincial architect, was inaugurated in 1908, and the museum, which belongs to the network of ethnographic museums of Asturias, opened in August 2002. It offers a view of rural education from the late 19th century until 1970, with a wide collection of school material: books, notebooks, primers, maps and slate boards.
