Ruins of San Pedro de Plecín Monument · Peñamellera Alta, Oriente, Asturias The church of San Pedro de Plecín, today in ruins, stands about five hundred metres from Alles, the capital of Peñamellera Alta. It is a late Romanesque temple built in the last quarter of the 12th century over an earlier pre-Romanesque chapel dedicated to San Salvador; it was extended to the west in the 13th century, remodeled and given a porch in the 15th, and in the 16th a funerary chapel was added on the north side. It was a parish church until 1787, when the new church of Alles was built. It preserves the apse, the south doorway with four pointed archivolts and a honeycomb-pattern hoodmould, and several late-12th-century corbels carved with animals, musicians and human figures.
