At its highest point, on the edge of the Angón valley and with views over the Ponga ridge, lies the Ordiales viewpoint, at 1,691 metres above sea level, known for having held, since 1949, the grave of Pedro Pidal y Bernaldo de Quirós, Marquis of Villaviciosa de Asturias. Besides being a climber and chamois hunter in the Picos, the marquis was the driving force behind the present-day Picos de Europa national park and, together with the shepherd Gregorio Pérez, El Cainejo, the first person to climb the Naranjo de Bulnes.
