Also called El Gavieiro, this is about five hundred metres of rounded pebbles enclosed between quartzite cliffs, next to the village of Castañeras, in the municipality of Cudillero; it has no direct road access. It is included within an SPA zone and a site of Community importance, and forms part of the Paisaje Protegido de la Costa Occidental de Asturias, a designation that in practice still remains formally undeclared. It is a living textbook of coastal geomorphology.
