Bernedo, plaza fuerte de frontera Historical milestone · Bernedo, Cuadrilla de Campezo-Montaña Alavesa, Álava Image of Bernedo, not of the place itself. Bernedo is documented as far back as 1025 in the Reja de San Millán. It was a walled town, and King Sancho the Wise of Navarre granted it a charter in 1182, in the midst of the border dispute between Castile and Navarre. It passed to the Crown of Castile in 1476 and was incorporated into the jurisdiction of Vitoria in 1490 under the Catholic Monarchs. Photo: Zarateman (CC0) What to see and do in Bernedo
