Mount Faro Nature · Rodeiro, Deza, Pontevedra A peak of 1,187 metres in the sierra do Faro, which separates the provinces of Pontevedra and Lugo between the concellos of Rodeiro and Chantada, and the highest point in the province of Pontevedra. From its ridge, on clear days, lands from all four Galician provinces can be made out. The area is declared a special area of conservation for its heathland and peat-bog flora and its forests of oaks, alders and ash trees, a refuge for species such as the otter or several bats. Near the summit stands the sanctuary of the Virxe do Faro, the centre of two pilgrimages, on 15 August and, the main one, on 8 September, which draw the faithful from the whole comarca.
